Los Angeles Plastic Surgery: Preparing for Your Procedure

Pre-Operative Care
Before your scheduled procedure, you will be provided with important information referring to patients’ most commonly asked questions concerning preparation for surgery. Our staff will also be available to offer any needed assistance during this pre-operative period.

Prior to surgery, Dr. Keyes will request a complete medical history and physical examination, and order laboratory testing. This is to minimize the risk of any complications and ensure that everything goes smoothly with your procedure. On the morning of surgery, Dr. Keyes will reviews the surgery with you after you have been checked in by the nurse and the anesthesiologist/anesthetist.

Post-Operative Care
Following surgery, you will be monitored and attended by a registered nurse in the recovery room until ready for discharge. Postoperative pain medication is prescribed for all surgeries. There is minimal discomfort with the majority of the procedures.

Postoperative care is provided according to individual patient needs, and you will be given detailed written instructions for postoperative convalescence. In addition, both Dr. Keyes and the anesthesiologist will call you the night of surgery to assure a comfortable and safe postoperative course.

A member of our staff will schedule you for an office visit the day after your surgery for a preliminary assessment of how your wounds are healing. Sutures are usually removed five to seven days after surgery depending upon which part of the body was operated on. You can generally resume exercise three to four weeks after surgery upon the advice of Dr. Keyes.
