Plastic Surgery: What You Should Know

Plastic surgery, when done correctly, is a combination of science and art. A skilled surgeon will combine his or her medical expertise with an aesthetic eye to change and improve the patient’s body while still maintaining a natural appearance.

To become a board certified plastic surgeon requires years of training. Doctors not only attend medical school, but also complete at least five years of additional training as a resident surgeon in an accredited program, per the standards set by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. This includes a minimum of five years of residency training in all areas of surgery, with at least two years devoted entirely to plastic surgery. Finally, a surgeon must pass comprehensive oral and written exams to receive certification after his or her training is complete.

Dr. Keyes has the distinction of being certifed by two medical boards, The American Board of Plastic Surgery and The American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. He has extensive training for cosmetic surgical procedures through both of these certifications and is recognized by his peers as an exceptionally skilled practitioner.
